DOLORES, THE DOLOROUS DIVA - List 8
Dolorous - Dolorous, meaning mournful or grief-stricken, is a combination of the Latin dolor, “grief” and the suffix -ous, “full”. In music, there is the term doloroso which tells the musician to "play it sorrowfully or sadly." The Via Dolorosa, the sorrowful road, is the path where Jesus walked to the cross.
Diva – [Pronounced dÂva] A distinguished female opera star. Diva is the feminine form of the Latin word divus and means “divine”. Divas are also known as prima donnas, which means “first ladies”. Unfortunately, a prima donna has also come to mean a temperamental and often contentious person.
